In the mid-1980's, Beth Jordan, a nurse who took care of me during a lengthy hospitalization for a bone infection in my shoulder, told me I needed to heal my life. She introduced me to the work of Dr. Bernie Siegel.
I experienced the truth of his teachings about the power of the mind/body connection through the decades. He talked about how patients under anesthesia can hear the doctor and recommended patients receive positive messages while under anesthesia. I would get very ill after anesthesia until I talked with the anesthesiologist at a pre-op visit about Bernie's teachings. He was all in.
When I came out of anesthesia in the recovery room, I felt a wave of nausea come over me that stopped in the middle and I said, "Can I have a bbq hamburger please?" The recovery room staff broke out into laughter. They knew the anesthesiologist had given me a suggestion under anesthesia that I would awake feeling comfortable and hungry and craving a bbq hamburger.
After the diagnosis of Post-Polio Syndrome, I harnessed the power of the mind/body connection to heal my life from the effects of childhood paralytic polio and trauma with poetry. I had to feel the healing happening in my body before I saw any outward manifestations of healing.
Feel the heal and heal the fear let goodness Love prevail
holding hands with open heart through adversity we sail.
Living in the present a gift no future and no past
surfing waves of our emotions suffering can’t last.
Feel the heal and heal the fear an illusion that fear is real
let go relax refresh and rest Love and Light can now reveal.
Faith and love no match for fear trust for we can fly
appearances deceiving doubts kiss them all goodbye.
Feel the heal and heal the fear we’re held in Loving arms
The Universe magnificent mysterious mystical charms.
We think a door is closing we grasp and hold on tight
miracle’s just a breath away release behold its sight.
Feel the heal and heal the fear get out of jail we’re free
possibilities are endless in our hands we hold the key.
No longer do we jump through hoops in faith we take a leap
Divine protection safety our life’s bounty time to reap.
Feel the heal and heal the fear let our hearts feel calm and peace
worries and anxieties heartache all can cease.
Today’s the day we celebrate as we all now feel the heal
courage strength compassion wisdom is all we need to feel.

As I prepare to receive the vaccine tomorrow, I tune out reported "side effects". My side effects will be joy, hope, celebration, and health and well-being.
I recall all the healing I have done harnessing the power of my mind and partnering with chiropractic care, physical therapists who believe as I do and a personal trainer:
Dissolving a breast tumor
Dissolving a nose lesion
Healing cervical spine disease and dissolving bone spurs pressing on a nerve
Growing a new gastroc muscle that atrophied from polio
After a serious left knee injury in December of 2014, I grew new cartilage, dissolved bone spurs, reversed degenerative changes and went on to run 3 consecutive Bermuda Half Marathons despite having been told by the medical community that I should stop running and would need a total knee replacement in a few years based on the MRI.
My healing story is included in Dr. David R. Hamilton's "Tenth Anniversary Edition of How Your Mind Can Heal Your Body"
As I receive the vaccine tomorrow I will feel the heal and imagine all the wonderful activities we are going to be able to resume in a few weeks. I will tune into the wisdom in all of my cells created by the Divine knowing that, to quote Dr. Joe Dispenza, "the Power that made the body, heals the body." I will receive the vaccine with joy and gratitude feeling blessed that we will be able to experience the fullness of life once again.
From my heart to yours
In health and wellness
Mary
